Phi and the human face

I was chatting with some physic students on the train not so long ago and they were chatting about beautiful people and they thought it was all connected with Pi, eg distances between features etc., What do you guys think, although I now beauty is in the eye of the beholder. j

Hmmm,

To me it sounds as if they may have been mistaking Pi with that of Phi. I could be wrong though, but I have not heard of Pi relationships associated with aesthetically pleasing structures.

I think you are on the right track Johnny.
It is Phi.

It is relationships of features to each other and the symmetry between left and right sides of the face/body that seems to be the accepted standard for physical “beauty.”

OOPs thats my ignorance showing again, Your right its Phi. I find it all so interesting that everything comes down to Phi. I wish I had been more interested in School. I am ready for school now as I wish to learn so much and I am an open blank book now, its such a shame its taken me all these years to want to use my brain to absorb and use knowledge instead of using it to climb ladders............... Thanks chaps. Please do explain more on the face thing.

I can’t give you much background on the symmetry concept.

With the American Football season just starting, there is a lot of interest in the guys that play the position of quarterback.
That is the primer position on the team.
And therefore the guys the girls swoon over.

That led to a news story of which ones were the “handsomest.”
They did a survey of the ladies and ran it past some modelling agency owner and then some research group.

All 3 agreed that left/right symmetry was a requirement.
